The Gifts of Lemon Balm

Today’s lemon balm harvest! This beautiful plant (Melissa officinalis), in the mint family and originally from the Mediterranean, grows easily and abundantly in my backyard garden.

These leaves will be infused in water, in alcohol, and dried to eventually become tea/tissane or tincture… all yummy and powerful medicine. Lemon balm is known to help ease anxiety, aid digestion, and calm nervousness (in addition to many other uses).

It will take me a couple hours to harvest and process all this lovely plant material, which becomes a very meditative process, helping me connect to the spirit of Mother earth and remember my place in her vast web of consciousness. I’ve been looking forward to this all week!
